… spend some hours with making first ilustration for this entry, but it was sunday evening, and it was
fun…
Now back to the idea of going somwhere far away (ukraine) with fiat punto in winter…Â This idea was
born in Jürgens Head, and me David and Andy were crazy enough to support it. Also here we are
4 austrian citicenz 1 fiat punto 1tv (youll understand it latter… or not) and 4000km from vienna to
krym and back…
Our aim was to swim in the black sea and come back to austria… everything began on friday
12.02.2010. I spend the night befor without sleep, i thought that there will be enough time during the
trip to sleep…Â But its not an easy thing to sleap in fiat punto with other 3 people and tv inside.
We should go away on 12:00 but David was a little bit late thats why we went away 3 hours later…
fiat punto, tv inside. Its all because of my grandmothrer… my mother wanted to make some present
for her, and it was a tv this time. I think till now David cant belive that the tv was on the trip in his
Punto.
It was not very wise to go for such trip without map and gps… thats why we spent some hours in
Budapest, trying to understand what hungarians… it was already 19:17 and our dreams to come
before 00:00 to my town Zolochiv (its near Lviv) cracked…
After some hours we where on Ukrainian border, and than we could enjoy cheap petrol and road
holes. Welcome in Ukraine!
02.51 in the morning…Â somwherin westukraine Lake on the road, we were happy that it was not
very deep
First FINAL! we are in Zolochiv… and it was 4:59 in the morning… my second night without sleep,
and in 4 hours, i must go to Ternopil to photograph wedding, at least 1.5 hours of sleep in the bus.
i had just the same feeling as david:
ill not write a lot about the wedding, just one photo that you can get the feeling how it is to
photograph winterweddings : )
on the end of this crazy day iev had the possibility to meet some nice people/photographers in
ternopil.
Koza, is really a nace place to spend time in ternopil.

one was pretty cool.
it was time to go… the last moment in ternopil… dont like smoking girls, but the light was pretty good.
Juergen saves David from ukrainian air. Nex day is Sunday and we are going to KIEV!

bad roads.
OH! bus… not very good situation for tourists…
and than there was the firs policment who stoped us… and he didnt ask for money, and it was the
first surprize, but he said tha one of our lapms is dead… not really good idea to drive on ukrainian
roads by night without light.

Hello Denis! it was our first stop in kiev, an hey its already the half of the way to krim…
I now at this moment they wanted to kill me… but what can i do my navigation skills are not very
good… it was sunnday around 23:30 and it was not our last stop in kiev…
Trojeshchena… when i look on this building i must thing about gothem city…Â and creative parking
of fiat punto in ukrainian snow.
a lot of questions in his eyes… one of them when we are going to sleep?
David was our guide on monday : )
the day was cloudy and wett.
as i tried to make a photo of the architecture in Metro, the guard woman wanted to kill me
(at least with her look and some ukrainian words).
it was just a norma tourist day. surreal stuf?

On the next day it was as windy and wett as before, but we wanted to look at kiev from above
up and down
the question of Juergen was ” why all this EU flags=?” the answer was easy “who nows…”

after good breackfast it was time to go to Krym on Ukrainian Highways ( AutoBAM )
David was a little bit upsed beacuse of all the holes in the road.
OH! and it was our plan how to go from Kiev to Krym (some 700km), better such plan as no plan at all : )

First contact
It was interesting feeling to go through Feodosia in Winter, city where in summer you can see
thousends of people, from all over the ex soviet union, who want to enjoy the summer and sea,
but during the winter the city is dead…Â and i like it somehow.
Are you crazy! its gonna be a long blog entry….

I must admit it was pretty crazy idea to swim in the sea in winter, but it was fun, and nobody of us
got ill.
Now as our mission was fulfilled, we could go back to austria.

After small photosession and getting rid of good ukrainian dirt, we continued our trip.
everytime when i see this picture i must think about the song of Iggy Pop “IN THE DEATHCAR”.
Andy is trying to say “its not me its just ukrainian highway (autoBAM!)”

As always in every blog entry i want to present you some photographer, who is good in my
opinion. This time itll be Bernhard Wolf, its really funny because he is one of the reasons why
im photographing now, some years ago he showed me www.deviantart.com and through this
community i discovered my passion for photography. Now Bernhard works for Nikon here
in Austria, and we are also working for the same wedding agency.Bernhard calls his blog
“Yet another cute B/W-color Blog” you can find a lot of good photography there made with
different good cameras and lenses (nikon, canon and lica).
Create soemthing out of Nothing!
