Warning! this entry is pretty endless! Im really couriouse if there will be people who can sruvive till the end.
Spurensuche ( spur is the german word for track, and suche for search) is a projekt of my collage die Graphische, but its only for people, who passed the exems for one year masterclass where they do a lot of different fancy projects, most of them are graphicdesign students, and every year students of this masterclass choose one city from the ex austrianhungarian monarchy, and compair it with vienna city… in 2009 it was Lviv. Its a one week project/trip where all of the 30 students are going to the city they get 15 different topics, and during the week they should gather some material for that topic and describe the city with some graphic photographic whatever  artworks… and i was the guide for that project… somehowe to much blabla… i think ill just post some report from that trip:

in summer i went with prof. Vogg and prof. Satler and their wifes to ukraine to check the “lage”, to see the city choose the topics and cooperate with some nice people and universities.

first dirnk of prof.Vogg in ukraine was cafe latte, dont know if he was impressed about it or not…Â after a long trip and standing up around 6:00 in the morning it was nice to arrive in Lviv, we were welcome with a nice sunset.

one of the best guides for Lviv ever… my good old friend Babboon (Myhajlo Guzarevych). He knows all the stories about Lviv, even if they never happened. You can also see all of our inteligance on this photo made with good old nikkor on 17mm.

we made a small one day tour through Lviv looking at the normal nice things like underground “blue bottle” cafe or italian courtyard, really nice places to spend time in lviv…

after the day of seeing all the popular stuf and eating some ukrainian food, and the next day with meeting some people from artuniversity i said bye bye to my austrian friends, and enjoyed the summer in ukraine.
Autumn
Everything was prepared and now it was time for real project… some monthes later in autumn, the students where ready to enjoy the trip to ukraine!

as always happy benni boy… from typisch beton

no ice in the bus… it was pretty cold thats why no ice was needed…

beer for boys

apples for girls

miriam thinking about ukraine…

some passport check and here we go!

if you are traveling by bus in the night, there are two possibilities you can sleep (pretty impossible one) or you are going nuts

good that there where some stops… you can buy such fancy cameras in hungary… be ware they are not real!

boicut (frisi) also a cool graphic designer and ilustrator

long busnight…

next morning in Lviv… everybody pretty tired just like babboon, because he was sleeping only about 4 hours… however the students were ready to see the city…

babboon showed to the graphic students some of the best walls in Lviv…

miriam was pretty amazed about all the old stuf that she saw in that shop… she even bought some old soviet super 8mm videocam :) for 15€

oh! it looks like in vienna … shit happens even in ukraine.

trying to learn ukrainian…

domenica trying to look seriouse…

babsi was always looking strange because she thought im speaking with her like with child…

benni with his fancy nikon fm on the way to art academy… time to meet some ukrainian students…

first day was over…

second day was relly rainy one… the topic of Bennis team was consumption… thats why we were visiting some ukrainian shops

ukrainian candyshop

ukrainian guides for benni and miriam

wonderful lviv weather… what else

ukrainian umbrella

austrian umbrella

it was really really cold and wett… thats why we visited one more ukrainian candyshop…

miriam dont really like ukrainian candies…

than it wasnt very cold anymore… but the shoose were wett, thats why we decided to go to some secondhand shop and to buy shoose

some beautiful naike socks and diadora shoose… in this ukrainian secondhandshop even my imagination was overexposed, because the doors of changing rooms were transparent… they were blue and transparent…. really fancy…

it was a long rainy cold morning, we’ev already viseted a lot of shops, and it was time to go for ukrainian tea with pickled gherkins (its a new english word for me) and milk.

oh! hey some wett canon 5d with some zeiss on it … no its not mine… its the stuf from my good friend even a bro Denys Ilin, he was visiting me for one day in Lviv, he also made some photos of miriam in the rain, thats why the 5d was pretty wett… you can find photos from that session here

the colors of this one one my eizo looks mor crossprocessed… and here is the author:

miriam was not dead, but a little bit frozen :)

some friendly citicens of lviv where sitting behind us in the dark corner…

Gasova Lampa is really nice place to spend time in Lviv

miriam wanted to take the pickled gherkins to austria, for some artwork…Â and i was exercising my composition skills with help of gherkin milk and tea…

and one more time with some ukrainian money

one of the nicest cafes in lviv is the “under the blue bottle”

me and denys met marjana afterwords and made some small photowalt through the rainy city…

in the meanwhile this women asked me what im doing in the hallway of her house… iev told her about the project, an she told me that some of her relatives where from austria and had some noble descent.

marjana was driving us back to hotel… it was good rainy light… and thank to nikon d700 for iso 6400…

2 more stars in 3star hotel …

denys went back to kiev …. an i was in my room again… it was already snowing outside… i went out to see what the other students are doing, and to hear about thair impression from the second day…

yes graphic designers can also photograph … sometime…

its funny thing… if you have a group of students in the hotel, you can find most of them in one or two rooms… everybody was pretty tired after the long rainy day

oli from typisch beton :) was already sleeping…

miriam and benni were not the only ones who discovered ukrainian cadyshops…

next morning the snow and water were everywhere… here some nice ukrainian dog for you

as it was such nice weather iev spent most of my time in cafes with friends on that day…

on the evening there was some bathrobeparty in one of the room

“das ist die perfekte welle, das ist der perfekte welle, das ist das perfekte welle, das ist die….”

hm… fancy faces… on the left side my good friend michael, who was visiting me on that day in lviv, and missed the bus to his town… as my room was a singlebed room, benni decided to create a bed …

it was made out of bathrobe, gathered from the bathrobeparty…

some of the ARTWORKS that where made during the travel..

prof. Heinzle looks pretty happy on the last day…

eurohotel in lviv looks pretty nice inside, some weddingphotographers there love that location. on the right photo is kerstin and she has nice blog with some really cool graphicthings…

hehe its me eating hot chocolate … most of the day was like this…

some milkart by benni

it was short-lived milkart…

its pretty unpossible to make no stairphoto in lviv…

my father was visiting me on that day…

one more timy boicut, with goodbey look for ukraine…

going back to austria

last stop near ukrainian border, to get some good and cheap ukrainian food…

on the end

On the end everybody was happy… it was not a simple thing to cross the ukrainian border for the first time we needed about 3 hours … but the second time was easier…
If you have never been to Lviv before…. just do it!
oh! create something out of nothing
